Making bespoke instruments
Composing music that stands out and feels unique is a challenge. That's why at Echoic we make many of our own sounds and playable instruments.

One of our favourite ways to create our own instruments is by using the powerful sampler plugin Kontakt. We can quickly drag and drop recordings into the player and play them back on a midi keyboard. By using layering techniques and editing various parameters we can create highly playable, rich, textured one-off instruments that stand out and sound unique. Custom designed for each project as and when they are needed.
We love to create patches from live recordings of a wide range of real instruments. Things like guitars, harmonicas, drums, synths or auto-harp (pictured right). We use all sorts of different effects to warp the sounds which add texture, interest and dynamics. There is something really exciting about a chain of guitar pedals. The sounds you can create feel warm and organic. The settings on a guitar pedal can’t be saved, which adds a level of chance and mystery.
Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative place where no one else has ever been.
